Mine is a 2015 V40, D2 Powershift (twin clutch, not torque converter).
As far as I'm concerned the auto mode is more than satisfactory. I almost never use the manual mode.
I test drove the manual but decided to opt for the auto because the gear stick position wasn't far forward enough for me. Shoulder ached after only 10 mins or so into the test drive.
I have one minor issue, however, with the Powershift. When shifting from reverse to forward there is a slight delay - when nothing appears to be happening. It is especially disconcerting on an incline as car tends to roll back, ever so slightly, before moving forward. I've learned how to overcome this but it can be a wee bit disconcerting the first few times.

I had a Citroen C5 with conventional 6 speed automatic which I traded in for a 9 month old V40 with the Powershift (DSG) transmission. My wife has a 1 year old Vauxhall Corsa with the GM DSG transmission, which is rubbish - clunks (sometimes) between 1st and 2nd, changes take forever, and I'm not impressed. OTH, the C5 6 speed transmission was great, smooth as silk (even when cold), but it did hurt the fuel economy. I was therefore wary of the V40 with the Powershift, but so far it changes like hot knife through butter, and doesn't appear to hurt the economy to any significant degree - still averaging 4.9L/100 km (no idea what that is in MPG). The C5 struggled to do better than 7.8, and then only on long runs. From my perspective and (so far very limited) experience, the automatic twin clutch in the V40 seems a fine transmission.
