Default Car serviced, oil level nearer "min" than middle.

Should I be concerned?

I'm tempted just to stick a litre in it from Halfords, rather than go back to dealer.

I've looked at the manual but cannot see what the in car gauge relates to. Is it 1 litre from min to max? less? more?

Just take it back to the servicing dealer for them to advise then let them sort it out. This way if something untoward happens it is their fault NOT yours.
Always better to be safe than sorry.

I understand that the electronic oil gauge does not provide an actual reading of oil level but rather an acceptable range.

There have been problems with oil being filled to maximum when DPF regeneration have been interrupted.

I would not attempt to top up the oil.

I agree with Mad Malc - talk to the dealer about this one.

Deffo do not top up with a litre, thats for sure, as others said, take it back, it may need a couple of hundred ml at most, at least taking it back it wont cost you any

As suggested just make a call to your dealer and I'm sure they'll put your mind at ease. The oil level range guide in 'status' is not an indicator of the total oil in the engine, it's simply a range for possible 'topping up'.

There is a procedure for dealers to not fill to the maximum mark to prevent an 'overfill' situation if the oil level should rise by diesel fuel dilution as a result of aborted dpf regeneration. Mine was serviced in late October and the dealer filled to just under the midway mark on the 'status' gauge, it hasn't moved since, certainly do not add any oil yourself asyou may overfill the engine.

If within normal range, then leave alone. It’s fine.

You paid for it to be filled with the correct oil & the correct quantity of oil, I bet they charged you for the full quantity.

Take it back & let them deal, it may be the oil level reset didn't work correctly I had that with mine previously.
