Question B200-FT Details needed

I have a 1994 940 S estate 2.0 turbo with a B200-FT engine. From what I have read this is a catalised engine but what I would like to know is if this is a passive catalyser or a Lambda Sond system. I have no Lambda Sond badge on the grill but I have noticed that newer models don't seem to have them anyway. There is an emmisions systems light on the dash but the owners manual doesn't state if this is common on all models even though it has a Lambda character on it.
Any info much appreciated.

Bryan

Yep - same engine as mine. You'll find the lambda sensor if you run your hand along the underside of the exhaust downpipe moving away from the turbo. Obviously don't do this if the engine is hot

Its a 3 wire lambda sensor btw.

Just what I needed to know. So I have a Lambda Sond engine even though it's not badged as such. Glad to know I'm doing my bit for the environment then, if only I could get small car mpg

Slightly strangely My late '92 940 w/ 200FT came up on MOT computer as not requiring a cat test for the MOT, despite being post Aug '92 and fitted with one (but not for long though ).

Yep, this is happening to a lot of 'older' cars, the same thing happened to my '94 960.

It was particulary annoying because I'd just fitted a secondhand cat to get it through the MOT!

I think you are getting a bit mixed up here. The question was has he got a Lambda Sond model or not and you have mixed that up with a Lambda Sensor. Lambda Sond is a hot gas recirculation method to reduce emissions it was around before cats and still used on some post cat models. Regards Peter
