Default Windscreen Insurance....

My advice would be to get a few quotes from various glass suppliers, just to see what the range is. I'm pretty sure its a bonded screen, so DIY is out.

When I looked at insuring my 240, I found that 3rd party was going to cost me about £120, and fully comp, with windscreen was £135, so even tho the car is only worth £5/600, I went fully comp, just cos of the glass cover.

I don't know the price for a 400, but when I had to replace the screen on my 850 I found Auto Windscreens were a great deal cheaper than Autoglass (by several hundred pounds). It'll probably be between £150-£200 at a guess, though I couldn't be sure.

Default Windscreens

Shop around. The national brands tend to be costly.

I had to have a windscreen replacement after vandalism on a Merc 200. The national company quoted silly prices, didn't have anything in stock, and could only get the screen in several days (to be fair the car was oldish).

A little local man came out, did it the same morning, charged just over £100, and supplied a top-tinted screen without extra charge.
