I think Loon is refering to the stud threads, not the stud pattern, as Jag PCD is 5 x 4 3/4" vs the Amazon's 5 x 4 1/2"

Well I am about halfway through cleaning up my front suspension so fingers crossed will be ready to start painting it this weekend. If I get a chance I am going to speak with Gaz Shocks tomorrow.

I have been to Gaz shocks but need some more info on standard amazon estate suspension which I cannot get off mine as I have taken it all apart. Can someone please take some measurements of the compressed length of the front & rear dampers and the front & rear springs for me please.
Thanks
James

Default Springs and things

According to my manual
Front springs fully compressd = 120mm
Front shocks fully compressed = 300mm

Rear springs fully compressed = 110mm standard 119mm extra equipment
Rear shocks fully compressed = 270mm

Not had an update for a while so here is what I have been up to since the accident.

Garage now redecorated. Only needs radiators fitting now.

Trial test of friends spare wheel.

This led to me buying this little lot:

Trial fit.

Recent purchase. unsure whether to fit fit these to the volvo or the escort.

Bumpers from the spare car. These have now been broken down into components and I have started work cleaning them up, most parts are thoroughly shot and will be binned. but there is still some life in a few parts.

Front end off the spare car.

Alot of it has crazy rust but the A arms, spindles and cross-member are saveable. Which is lucky as these are the parts u can no longer buy and the bits I might have bent.

Front end nearly broken down into components.

My car. removed panels and front suspension now. From first checks I have bent all the steering gear including: tie rods, steering box and steering arms, Also dented mounting point for steering box. I am surprised how good the inner wings are, so suspect they have been fully fixed already. Horrors so far have been the lights and indicators. They were both completely rotten so new ones on the way. Also found some rust on the chassis rail which needs investigating. Loads of spares on thier way including a new rad and a replacement washer bottle as I think its about time my piece of wood holding the current one in should retire.

I then had a problem.
While working on my car I thought I would have a beer. Due to getting on so well and the bottle opener having disappeared from the tool box I thought I wouldn't waste time and go indoors for a bottle opener. Instead I would open the beer with a screw driver as I had successfully many times before. Now what happened next was a bit of a mystery but the top of the bottle fell off see below.

And somehow slit my thumb open.
In A&E before cleaning:

After some cleaning.

The guy in A&E thought the cut was too deep for him to sew up so sent me for an xray, wrapped up my hand and booked me in for hand surgery on Monday. Which I was pleased about as the casualty staff are not known for their beautiful stitching. The next day, after waiting at the hospital from 8:00 in the morning, I finally got to the operating room at 14:54. It was decided that because it was only my hand they would not completely knock me out instead they would give me an anaesthetic block. This is a procedure where they inject around the nerves in the artery under your arm to block all the movement and pain signals to your brain. but should that not work they would have to give me a general anaesthetic. Sounded good to me. turns out I had a trainee sorting it though. 6 attempts to put the canula in my hand. Then about 20 attempts to complete what should have been 3 injections. What annoyed me though was that I was not informed a trainee would be doing it and the professor could see he was ****ing up and putting me in pain and let him continue. The trainee also used twice as much meds to knock my arm out so what should have worn off in 12 hours has only just worn off. Nevermind! Anyway I was awake for the Op and watched it all. The surgeons were a laugh, taking the **** out of each other and telling me anything I wanted to know. Thankfully, and to the surprise of the surgeons, I missed all my tendons and nerves. But I did cut halfway though the muscle on my thumb in the web of my hand. So I am grateful for that at least.
I just need to build up strength etc again. And the moral to the story is:.............
Don’t buy cheap foreign beer!
