Sat Nav Television whilst driving .......
Does anyone know how to remove the block that my V70 has to stop the television picture from being shown above 5 mph. I appreciate it can be done by some garages but wondered if someone had a trick to DIY ?

Nope , it is speed related and the picture will come back onto the screen when the speed drops past 5 mph. I wonder if its an ECU thing !

I'm guessing that there is a digital feed from the circuit on the speedo to the display unit logic. On the cruise control on the 900's there is something similar so that you can only engage cruise above 20mph. Only thing is unsure wether its signal or no signal to enable.
There is a also a similar feed on some of the later SC model radios to increase radio volume in proportion to road speed.

In theory, there is a wire feeding the screen the speed information, in wire is likely to come from the instrument cluster, ECU or speedo sender unit. Trouble is, I bet that the screen will simply be black all the time if you cut the wire.

It's there to stop the driver watching it while driving.
It's illegal to have a tv where it can be veiwed by the driver when driving. |
