Default Ticking Noise

Hi

Ive got a 1999 S40 2.0 and its developed a rapid ticking noise coming from the offside front wing, anyone got an idea what it might be and how I can fix it.

Thanks,

Chewey.

You need to try to narrow it down a little. That side has the cam belt and the auxiliary belt.
Does the ticking increase with engine spped? Can you isolate where the ticking is coming from with the bonnet raised?

Im not a mechanic, but it sounds like a solenoid switch opening & closing really fast and it makes no diferance with engine speed.

it sounds like the recirc air servo which is located behind the glovebox on the n/s there is a plasic gear in the unit which strips the teeth and it keeps trying to get into position try pushing the fresh/recirc air button see if it stops
