Hi
Has the car been running normally recently? How long have you had the car? Have you changed anything recently? Pop from where? Exhaust, under dash, in engine compartment? When you turn the ignition on, are there any lights on the instrument panel? Have you looked at the main fuses (near the air filter box)? Is the battery charged? Steve

Car was running fine, used every other day in rotation with my V70.
I've had it 10 months, battery was changed on purchase, nothing else changed Pop was from dashboard/engine bay No lights on the ignition Not yet had the opportunity to examine the fuse box |

Update, no sign of any problems with fuses.
Starts with a battery booster attached but when I try without I get the 'pop' and no electrics. Plus electric aerial no longer works Alternator??? |

Are you able to change the battery? Will your V70 battery fit as a temporary measure just to eliminate a faulty battery?
I know you say it is only 10 months old but I have known even well known brands have quality problems with premature failure.

If it starts and runs with a jump start I would do as Turboboy suggests and change the battery first.
As you realise without actually hearing the "pop" it's hard for us to diagnose the problem. Are you sure it's not a backfire which could indicate timing out? But then it would do the same with a jump start... Alternator?? When you had it running was the battery / alternator light on? A mystery...check battery first though...keep us posted please |
