Default XC 60 D5AWD Turbo Charger fault

I have a 2013 (2014 facelift) XC60 5D AWD with 93k Kms on the clock. It has been meticulously serviced and has not been driven hard.
I recently noticed a slight hesitation/jerkiness when pulling off from a stop and took it to my reliable mechanic to have a look at it. He has diagnosed the problem as a faulty primary turbo charger. The shaft in the primary has apparently worn and he says there is too much play. The repair will need either a replacement or rebuild of both turbo chargers. This is a very expensive repair and just wondered if anyone else had suffered the same fate?
There is some doubt whether it is possible to repair and that I will have to buy a whole new twin turbo from Volvo.

It's very easy for people to falsely diagnose a turbo problem. Turbos do have play but typically you need to remove them to assess. I'd take it to another place for a 2nd opinion... preferably a volvo specialist.

I too have the same engine and chasing an oil leak problem out of both turbos... possibly a pcv problem but yet to get on the tools.

It may be worth your while reading the thread about jerkiness/missing/hesitation which recently came up. Heading is 'engine stutter'. My D5 suffered a period of this the other week and has appeared to have cleared itself. As stated, it would be well worth while getting a second opinion.

Yes, that does seem like a reasonable explanation. Worth trying at least.

Still trying to understand why oil is seeping out of my turbos.

My XC60 D4 AWD developed a hesitation when accelerating.... it transpired to be Injector No1 that needed replacing.
