Not any longer , volvo upgraded the spec about a year ago .. Handbooks are out of date before you get your new car ... The same engine in other volvo models is on 5w/30 though .

My post is a screen dump from Volvo's website: https://my.volvocars.com
Where you enter your info & it gives you upto date specs. Surely that is correct? What a mish mash! :-/

Volvo IT both public and internal is and always has been terribly user unfriendly , it needs fresh blood and someone enthusiastic and dedicated to keep it up to date and easy to use !

This is only specific to D2 in the V40 though is that the car you chose ?

your specifications are correct then 5w/30 , although you may benefit with fuel consumption on 0w/30

another point the D2 only in the V40 must be run on 0w/30 oil .. do they know something we don't ?
Update:
My 2011 v50 1.6 DRIVe had done 113k miles & just missed the timing belt change on last service! I've recently had it replaced; full timing belt kit, water pump & auxiliary belt. The old belt & components definitely showed that it needed replacing; belt was cracking at base of teeth & water pump bearing was tight & whining when cold!
For those interested, the timing belt kit can be purchased from Volvo parts for £117 all inc. part number: 31339888 (NB this does not include water pump!). I had my garage man who I trust implicitly to do my work; £295 all inc. Alternatively, Volvo will do all this for £450+!
I hope this helps anyone who reads this post. Last thing you want is timing belt failure!
Timing Belt: C30, S40, V40, V40 XC, V50, S60, V60, S80, V70
