I would guess that the guard was originally from a 745 before being fitted to your friend's 940. It would have been a perfect fit on his 940 as the body and seats were the same as the 745. Volvo probably changed the design to thicker horizontal bars to improve safety and it may be that these guards share the same part number (6820 337-1).

Hi All,
As promised, I am posting some pictures of the job I did with the dog guard. I just used double sided adhesive for the fingers on the back seat, there is no need to use screws as the dog guard stays up most of the time. When it is down, most likely it is because the boot is fully loaded, therefore it stays there anyhow. Also, while driving and it is down, there is no vibration at all and it is not touching the rear seat on the sides, which was my main concern. Overall, I am satisfied with the job.
