Default 2004 XC70 Auto Won't Move Even When Gear Selector In Neutral

Towed car home the other evening after engine failure.

I went to move it into garage today but it wouldn't budge.

I can shift the selector into neutral but it makes no difference.

Can anyone advise please?

There are 2 bolts at the transmission end of the shift cable. You can remove them and shift the car into neutral.
You'll be moving the PNP switch directly. It'll be obvious how to do it when you see it.
Remember, if the vehicle is on a grade it will roll so chock a wheel.

Cable was shifting fine just by using the gear stick.

I found out that even if you can move the shifter the car won't change gears because the engine needs to be running to drive the pump on the automatic gearbox.

When the engine stopped, the car was in drive so the gearbox is now stuck in drive.

I'll be honest I did wonder, what are they made out of?? do they just immediately collapse.. it was more of a suggestion of method rather than those exact ones.. if single use only though probably not worth breaking the bank for it

They look a bit bendy, but would definitely be worth a shot at £40.
