For anyone thinking about doing this in a V60, it doesn't work - the DDM and PDM are responsible for the control of the ground lights in the V60, whereas the XC60 just has straight electrics from the CEM. I've done it in my V60, and in fact in the rear doors as well, but it took a lot of breaking into existing wiring, and using a relay to reverse the signal. And don't ask for an explanation, if you can't work it out for yourself, you shouldn't do it !!

Have you activated them in My car->Settings->Light settings? Two different options there, one for the remote and one for the light switch.

Just out of interest what version of the V60 do you run? My V90 is the SPA. All I did was remove existing ground/puddle lights and fit the projector lights to show the Volvo logo on the ground, fairly bright to be honest.

Thanks mainly to b1mcp, a breeze to check out and exactly as he shows - cable extracted and tested with the footwell led lamp that is the same type, - all works
Now the tricky bit - straight forward LED or logo projector? if the later - volvo symbol or the R Design symbol, ?? - lol
FYI my vehicle is a 65 reg MY2016 (VIN 10th digit G) model XC60 R Design lux Nav

You have to go with the Volvo logo.. R Design looks good, but you could have people jumping in the car thinking it's a R Type Honda...

The lamp units for the Ground lights are identical to the Footwell lights and the Tailgate light. The Volvo part number is 1286317. If you want a guaranteed easy fitting this is probably what you want. They cost around £30 for a pair from Volvo. However, I think the light output is very poor and I don’t like the warm white colour (I’ve replaced my boot and footwell lamps also).

I went for aftermarket White LED units from ebay (Just search the above part no. for loads of options). Although the performance is exactly what I wanted (very bright and white), the dimensions of the fitting were poor and required filing of the lamp housing and connector socket, and wedging the connector in place on the lamp to get a secure fit. For me it was worth the effort for the light output.

For the Door pocket lights I just used generic LEDs with diffusers, wired in to the original plug.
Sorry to resurrect this post, but just a quick question on this please. I have the LED footwell lights, ground lights and tailgate lights that Volvo provide and want to change them for some of the cheap (but bright ones) from Ebay. Aware of the adjustments needed to make them fit as I have read that from others too, but out of interest, would it have been possible to just opened up the unit and switched the bright LEDs in to the original Volvo housing if that makes sense? So no adjustments were needed. Thanks

No that doesn't work, I tried it. The lens can be removed from the original but the rest of it is a moulded part.

On the ebay units the lens is bonded to the unit so trying to split will break it.
