Should the windscreen washer reservoir have an inlet filter?

Hi all,

Got a 65 plate V60 and filled up the windscreen washer fluid reservoir for the first time since owning the car.

I noticed there was no filter which seemed strange since all the cars I've owned previously have had one.

Should it have one? If so, anybody know the part number?

My XC60 does not have a visible washer filter, if it did 90% of the bubbles would end up on the floor.

I can't ever remember any of my Volvo's having a filter in there.

Never had a problem, not as if your going to get great amounts of debris falling in whilst your filling it.

VAG cars have filters on their inlets.

I've also had cheaper diluted screen wash develop mould in the container which could have caused problems if it had gone into the bottle

My 68 plate V90 has a filter mesh in the top of the washer bottle, bubbles up like mad when topping up.

I can’t keep diluted washer fluid long enough to form a mould. Car eats the stuff by the gallon.

It was a while ago before I came back to a Volvo. My S60 drinks it too not helped by the fact it seems to wash the headlights every time I do the windscreen

I can't imagine the filter is a prized item worth robbing, but then again one mans junk is another mans treasure . . .

The manual states a light illuminates when there's ~1L of fluid left in the reservoir. Cars with cleaning system: 5.4L; cars without: 4.0L. Mine does the headlamp clean after every 5th wash of the windscreen.
