Default C30 1.6 egr replacement

Trying to remove old piersburg egr. Removed 2 bolts, can't see anything else to remove. It won't budge. Any suggestions? It does not have the clip on it, it seems to be held just by o ring

If it's the older 1.6 16v engine then it's simply the 2 bolts. There's a metal gasket that sits between the engine block and the EGR which may have rusted making it a little difficult to remove. Ultimately though, a tap with a mallet on the metal body of the EGR should dislodge it and it'll fall away. You can also spray the join with WD40 and wait for 15-20 minutes for it to soak in.

Thanks but mine is 2010 and obviously a different design. Have been told its just 2 bolts then it should pull out. Apparently the build up of carbon holds it in and makes it very difficult to pull apart. Will just have to keep trying!

WD40 is not a good releasing agent (it is primarily a Water Dispersant, hence the name). Try Duck Oil, it is very good.

you need to release the clip which holds it to the EGR cooler pipe , you will have to cut it off . Then don't let the stainless steel gasket drop down when you pull the two bolts out !

I would recommend you get a clip from Citroen which uses a very similar engine which is a nice screw version , it makes the job of assembly a lot easier especially as you wont have the crimping pliers and you cant get them in there anyway .. ...

Ah! I totally forgot about the clip. If it's the same type of clip that's on the earlier ones you can use a screwdriver to lever up the raised part where it clips together.
