reminds me of a mate of mine, always high spirits, does stuff then maybe thinks about it afterwards. He changed the oil on his old vauxhall. Couldnt understand why it belched smoke and ran like an old tractor, sometimes the engine would run on after switching off. Had to stop by stalling it. He had forgotten to drain the old oil first ! There was 2 gallons in the sump, not one, it was dieseling on engine oil. Oddly enough it ran much better after draining some out. Oh how we still chuckle about that one.
A friend of mine thought that "check the oil" meant just pour more in, and he diligently "checked his oil" frequently. Cue lots of smoke and a ruined drainplug (not having the right spanner) when he was told to drain some out! Not sure what he thought the dipstick was for.

Another friend "filled" her engine with oil till she could see the oil level in the filler neck. Locked the engine good and proper.

Syringes are available from car factors and you will need some hard tube that fits down the dipstick tube. Easy job . Local garage should be able to help. Level should show 3/4 on dipstick . If engine manage ment light comes on with message "Engine service required " it will go out on its own after level is corrected and you have driven a few miles.
