Its not something that I would get involved with. Each to their own, mine is first hand experience and its not worth the hassle. If you could pay £1500 to £2000 loads of people would have taken it up (I would have 2 off petrol cars running LPG). As it is I have never been in an LPG car without the EML illuminated or starting issues or problems switching from petrol to LPG. |

I had my 1995 Audi A6 2.0 auto converted to LPG at 105,000 miles. Changeover from petrol to LPG was set at falling revs once the engine had reached 2000 rpm, typically within 100yards from starting. When it came to oil changes, the oil from the sump was the same colour as the new oil. It ran for over 120,000 miles before the gearbox failed, without any misfiring problems and no warning lights. The running costs of a diesel with the smoothness of a petrol; best of both worlds.

Get the b200e converted, you’ll never get any warning light on
Looks like the b200E is the best engine for lpg conversion. |

Best for conversion are the carb engines and the B200/230F engines.

How many miles a year do you do. Given the LPG troubles, availability and installation costs I wuold image the break down shows that you will need a fair distance to recover costs assuming the installaion works without additional expense which is may not....

Mine is running LPG since 1992. Still working fine.
I guess that is a lot of money saved. Huge money. |

My dad does 30-50,000 miles a year with our 240's so LPG is a no brained with conversion costs covered in a few months.

The electric system must always be perfect. Changing plugs 10k in advance, distributor cap every 40k miles, wires every 2/3 years, checking the condition of the gas hoses monthly and replace when they get dry and hard.
This way you keep the car in top notch condition, spend some money on t but still saving a lot in fuel. |
