Default Cant figure out problem with s80 dipped beams

I havent had my 2002 2.4(140) s80 that long, a few months. When i first had it the dipped beams worked fine then the left one went, i originally thought its just a bulb and didnt replace straight away. Weirdly a week after it came on again and stupidly didnt think anything of it. Then about a month ago one random night i turned the car on and there were no dipped beams at all. Ive checked all relevant fuses in engine bay and on the side of dash and they were all fine, also the bulbs themselves havent actually blown just dont work. Ive also took out the cem and replaced both shunt and relay for lights to no success. Ive heard there could be a headlight switch problem as there were recalls but not for my model, im tempted to try it anyway? What else could it be? The actually harnessess themselves? And input will be greatly appreciated as i dont want to get rinsed by volvo dealer, i cant afford it lol!
Thanks.

How are the bulb holders? The originals are only plastic and in DRL mode effectively the dipped beam is always on, the heat generated destroys them. So much so one can somtimes pull them apart taking out the faild bulb. Most of us old timers with cars of this age have cut them off and added ceramic bulb holders in their place. It worked for me.

You could change them yourself for free.
I also upgraded to ceramic.

Is the relay operating when you switch from DRLs to side lights?
Is there power at the bulb holders and or at the fuses F 17 & 18 ?
Have you checked the other fuse, F3, in the passenger fusebox ?
The connectors do break up but I think it improbable that both would cause loss of power to the bulbs practically simultaneously.
