Headlight levelling motors - do all x40s have them?
I accidentally noticed that the passenger side headlight on my v40 does not adjust height when the manual adjuster wheel near the headlight switch is spun. Can't hear the motor working on that side either. Can't say I've ever used the feature while not being bored inside a traffic jam, but it is a MOT failure anyways.
I might be able to get some P1 headlights off a scrapped s40. However do they even have the motors on the sedan version? The wagon needs adjustment when a heavy load is in the boot, I don't assume the s40 would need that? Another thing, are the adjuster motors the same on single and twin headlights? |

Regarding my second question, apparently the single and dual headlight aiming motor part codes are different. 3345721 for single headlight and 30864592 for the duals. The motor for the dual one has a longer stick.
That sucks. So do the S40s have manual headlight leveling from the interior? Would make the search a little easier. |

Yes, all of them have the levelling motors. In 17 years of V40 ownership, my MOT chappie has never tested the operation of the motors. So long as the headlights are within spec when the motors are on the 0 position on the switch there should not be an issue.
This is a totally different set up to the Bi-zenons which do need the levelling device to be working for the MOT.

Might be the motor but check the plug is in properly for the electrics. Also might have broken adjuster? might have unplugged it for that reason.

My phase 1 originally had them, kinda forgot to fit the motors to the new lights when I did the dual conversion for MoT (although I read above that they are different motors for dual lights) and she sailed through no problem, as long as the aim is correct you should be fine.

The Manual switch on mine is blanked out (xenons) if that helps in any way lol.

Oh, right, automatic adjustment, so the xenon ones have no adjuster wheel. So all the x40s should have adjuster motors, I assume.
