I think so. The issue I had was with the Vodaphone registration process. IVolvo UK suggested it was a Volvo account with Vodaphone problem so a 'normal' SIM process should be fine.

Ah, OK. Thanks. My current phone is on 3 and unlocked. Hopefully it should be straight forward then.

I thought I would check this and found out yesterday, that my mobile phone connects to the Internet through my XC90's 100GB SIM card's Vodaphone account at a download speed of around 65-69Mbps.

Excellent or wot?

It seems like I have some kind of problem with this as well!
I've never carried out any setup of any kind on the SIM card - not registered an account or anything. It just worked fine from the day the car was delivered (guess the dealer must have done something!) Then it stopped working yesterday - on Spotify, Weather etc it just says 'Connection Error' and the wheel spins for ever.
Can anyone shed any light on what I could do that might resolve this?

If its the Vodafone Sim then you should have had to go through a setup procedure to set up/register for an account and activate the free data. It may be that it'll work for a while without one linked but then requires you to set one up - instructions on how to do this are on the first page of this thread. If that doesn't work, then maybe pop back to your local dealer/give them a call to sort

Thanks Marc - gone through the instructions and seems all sorted now.

Hi Marc,
I’ve just picked up a MY2020 XC40 and following the instructions you supplied I get the Internet Globe and good P-sim status indicator, I’ve successfully connected iPad/iPhone/Windows 10 laptop to the cars’ hot spot but I’m unable to open the Vodafone registration page (using safari or chrome browsers). My supplier is 140 miles away and are unable to help, is it worth asking for another P-sim or will it get wiped?
P.S. I’ve raised a support call with Vodafone

This morning I replaced the Vodafone P-Sim with another (T-Mobile) and it worked perfectly (laptop and iPhone) thus confirming the In-Car settings are correct, the fault must lie with the Vodafone Sim (or the way the car interacts with it) so I'm taking that up with Vodafone and my dealer, anyone else had problems with them?

Andy
