The drain & fill method is another option & many use that too (Effectively its draining the transmission, replacing old fluid with new fluid, start the car, cycle through the gears & draining it again... Keep repeating the process until you see clean fluid). You’ll get cleaner fluid doing a flush, but it means disconnecting the transmission cooler line - Its just a bit more fiddly.

Thanks.

One more question, where in VIDA does it show stuff like the fluid type or how to change it?

To be fair and having just done the gibbons flush on 2 separate occasions in the last few weeks (about 50L worth), the flush isnt any more fiddly really, using the washing machine waste hose means its long enough to have the waste barrel right in front of you and can be seen from the drivers side so can be done by one person.

I would also recommend jimmy rigging a top up method especially if doing it on your own, i copied the video on YT, made a small hole in an old container, hot glued a small piece of tubing, cut a large hole for pouring in the fluid. Made a hook so it can hang from the bonnet. The clear tubing i bought has a coupler so it made it easy for storing, just uncouple the main length, hence glueing only a small size to the container. The tubing fits tightly into the green part of this funnel kit, when finished, the tubing can be put back into the bag that the washing machine hose came in

The fiddly part is for those that have the damn ecu thingy on top of the air cleaner, makes it very difficult to refit the air cleaner in a ways as its connected and you can still get to the fill plug, its doable on the V70 but not easily....

How do you set the level correctly?

Is it the same fluid in the rear AWD system?

This is how to do the whole process although your model year car may well use the later Jws 3324 spec oil rather than the JWS 3309 featured here. You must check..

+ YouTube Video

Re the rear Haldex unit, no it does not use the same oil you must use Volvo AOC oil. This is it here. Readily available on Ebay or your Volvo dealer.

Great thanks. I believe my 2013 uses the 3309?
Found a store and picking up 20l.

The AWD fluid may be a bit more of a challenge. How many litres are needed?

1 litre of AOC oil will suffice and it really isn't difficult to do.

Ooops seem to have hit a snag. The drain plug is horizontal and not vertical as in the youtube video above!

Do you mean it's on the top of the box, looking down on to it?
