New Owner - V90 Inscription Plus - CarPlay question
Hi
I bought a MY20 V90 D4 Inscription Plus recently (7 months old). I've wanted a large estate for a while and have a real soft spot for Volvos (my Mum had a 343DL automatic when I was a child). I'm absolutely over the moon with it. I've a quick question about CarPlay if I may? The car was listed on the Volvo Selekt website as having Smartphone Integration fitted as an optional extra, and in the storage under the front armrest it has 2 USB sockets (one with the white border). I have tried my iPhone in both sockets, checked Siri is enabled, been in the CarPlay menu on my phone (and have the car connected to my home WiFi while on the drive), but I can't get CarPlay to come up on the Sensus screen. I gather when you plug the phone in it should launch a message on the Sensus screen. I've looked in Settings > Communication, but there's nothing mentioning CarPlay in there. My phone works fine with CarPlay in our other car, and I've tried two iPhones in the V90, neither of which have triggered anything. The phone was unlocked when I tried all of the above. It's making me think that maybe Smartphone Integration isn't fitted after all. It's not the end of the world if it's not fitted to the car (I've no desire to pay for it to be fitted retrospectively), but I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Any thoughts on possible causes welcome (including whether there'd be the 2nd USB post under the armrest if Smartphone Integration hadn't been fitted on a MY20 car). Thanks in advance PDL |

Swipe the main screen in the car to the apps view, there should be a carplay app listed there.

Any Android Auto Icon? I don't use CarPlay, so mine is hidden way down, out of the way on the App page

When you swipe from left to right you should see this (see below). If you don't see the icons, then smartphone integration is not installed.

Yes, if the icons for Android auto and apple carplay aren't there you don't have smartphone integration fitted.
I think Volvo started fitting the double usb as standard to 90 series models from around 2019 but Smartphone integration is a £350 software install. It is a a dealer fit item so if your vehicle was sold as having it but doesn't then the supplying dealer should fit it for you in my opinion. |

Thanks to everyone for your responses. No icons there unfortunately, so looks like it’s without the smartphone integration. The supplying Volvo dealer is over 200 miles away, so unlikely to be easy to ask them to install on a goodwill basis., but I’ll drop them a line to see. A shame, but not critical and it doesn’t change my view of a brilliant car.
Thanks again. |

Have you been to the download centre to check for new apps? - The app might just have been uninstalled and if it should be fitted you might just be able to download it.

They are not like the other apps to be downloaded or uninstalled. Only dealers can install the smartphone integration. |
