1800S/E/ES Windscreen Rubbers
I am, when I get around to it, going to replace the windscreen glass in my '68 1800S.
I already have a NOS rubber, part no 1211949 but this is listed for chassis 30001 onwards, so 1800E and ES. The windscreen glass is the same for the S, E and ES, as (from late '64) is the chrome screen trim. Having worked on both models I noticed no difference in the windscreen aperture flange between the S and the E I have asked Brookhouse why there are two different rubbers. They don't know why but believe in the past they sold the later rubber a couple of times when the S type was out of stock and had no come back. Any ideas why there are two rubbers - and has anyone fitted the later rubber to an S? Thanks |

Might they have changed the thickness of the glass by a fraction? If Brookhouse have stock of both numbers they could check the width of the slot. I have heard of aftermarket windscreens being smaller than original.

I wondered about that Derek but Brookhouse only stock one windscreen for the S, E and ES (well plain and tinted versions) as do the usual suspects in Europe, all replace part number 683894.

No reason the change the screen part number. It would be a manufacturing error for some reason. Chinese?
