Default Engine Flushng oil ?

My recently acquired 2002 V70, 54K miles, MOTd November, is booked in for a full / major service on 21 December. New tyres and new battery recently fitted. Due to being 'off the road' and in storage from 2018 until Nov 2023, I'd prefer that an engine flushing oil is used before the oil is drained / changed – but not sure if Volvo approve of flushing oils? I've heard that flushing oils can compromise seals. Does anyone have experience of using a flushing oil in a V70 2.4L petrol engine and if so, is it safe to use? Thanks for reading.

The way that a garage flush oil nowadays is to put a bottle of Forte flush (or similar) in the engine before draining and run it up to temp and then drain, not actually drain and then put a flushing oil in.

I am aware of this thank you. Just need to know if it's safe to use in a V70 petrol engine. The garage servicing the car does not use flushing oil unless the customer provides same, adds to engine oil on arrival at garage, and ldles the engine before the service commences.

the way I heard it, flushing can make chunks of crud move along and potentially block up oil ways where they were previously just fine where they were not causing any issues. (additionally to possible oil seal issues as you say)

it may be a bit laymans terms (or old wives tales?) but I'm happy to just do oil changes as it is and leave it at that, whatever works without risking problems

that's just engines in general though, it wasn't specific to Volvo or anything

others might have more positive experiences and say it's fine, good luck to em

Use one every other oil change, never had a problem.
In fact the very first time i used one it resolved a problem with high oil consumption.
Maybe the oil control rings were gunked up.
