Default 250,000 mile Celebration 2013 V70 auto 2.0D

Great to pass the 250k on Sunday. Relatively new for me (2013) Auto D4 with the five cylinder Volvo 2.0 diesel.

Now owned for 8,500k and averaged 49.2 mpg over that mileage on the trip computer.

Fabulous car and pretty quick, I am wondering if one of the previous four owners had some tuning.

Note: apologies for using camera whilst driving. Also note 82.1 mpg at 54 mph in cruise (as always 99% of the time) and 915 miles in the tank!

My manual 2011 D3 (tuned from 163bhp to 180bhp+) will read 91mpg at true 50mph cruise, but, unfortunately, I can't stop my right foot descending for long and I average around 42mpg on my journeys to work - all B roads or unclassified roads, though! We recently did the 740 mile round trip (easily on one tank of fuel) to cousins near Plymouth and I stuck to the legal limit all the way (where possible - A303 route), using cruise control when I could ('cos I am lazy) and we averaged 52mpg.

Same engine in my car as your car, but they renamed the 163bhp version the D4 from 2013 and sold the D3 5 cylinder as a lower powered 134bhp version, upgradeable to 163bhp by Polestar for a price!). You will often find this era of 5 cylinder 2.0 diesel referred to (on parts suppliers) as D3/4. The constant changing and swapping of the D3 and D4 badging was very confusing...

915 miles to empty - that's showing off!!

Great to see.... as said your car is a D4 - the V70's badged 2.0D had a Ford/PSA 4 cylinder engine which was reasonable but unlikely to have made it to 250k in the heavier V70 platform (it was at its best in the V50/S40). They also had Ford gearboxes which didn't last half as long as the geartronics.

I also thought it was the four cylinder Ford, but when the alternator belt shredded (seized pulley after two weeks ownership), the AA man said it had five injectors, so happily it is the 163hp Volvo 2.0 4D.

Bought with 241k so I was a bit nervous though it was a 2013 model so far really happy. My previous highest mileage was previous car, a 2009 Honda Accord estate which lasted until 183k when the clutch gave up.

You are not lazy using your cruise control. It is a very efficient fuel saving device. Lots of drivers don't use it at all or only when on dual carriageways/motorways. Big mistake. Mine is on as soon as I am out of the built up area.

I am on cruise control as soon as it allows cut in around 20mph (my previous Accord was 25 miniumun). 0nly niggle is that you have to manually select Cruise after starting the car. Is there a way to set it as a default selection every time you start the car?

My record is 1,200 miles, but that was after driving from peak of Cumbria M6 to Carlisle which is pretty much sea level at no more than 60mph as I was early for appointment. I had been trying to get 1,000 miles for ages, so was very surprised to see 1,200 miles come up when I filled up opposite Lloyds of Carlisle. Doubt I will ever see 1,200 again!

That's good going!

I've got a 2009 2.0d V70 with the PSA/Ford engine and just ticked onto 177k. No issues in my 4 years and 40k miles of ownership.
Had it remapped 10k ago which made a nice improvement.

That’s good to see. Hope you get many more happy miles out of it.

Now up to 260,000 and just passed MOT with no advisories.

The V70 is an incredible car, economical, very quick (maybe it has been tuned by a previous owner?), great handling and the five cylinder Volvo emits a wondrous roar when opened up, not the sort of behaviour you would expect from an old man's voluminous estate car.
