Yep, auxiliary belt is just another name for serpentine.

Your car will have 3 belts. The main timing belt, the auxiliary belt (or serpentine) and a belt for the air conditioning.

It can be a DIY job, but you do need some tools like a jack or ramps and a decent tool kit.

Has your car ever had any of the belts done before? If the timing belt has already been replaced, then that should be fine for 10 years or 108,000 miles (whichever comes first) counting from when it was done.

Serpentine belt/auxiliary belt is 5 years or 54,000 miles. Air con belt is 10 years (same as timing belt). The serpentine belt tensioner is 10 years, same as cam belt.

Sticker in the engine bay area says timing was done at 84976 miles on 21/02/2018. Its now.on 141k miles.

Without going through the receipts and paper work I am not sure if the aux and air con belts/tensioner were done at the same time.

I think it's just a good idea to change the tensioner and aux belt ASAP

For ease, probably yes. They aren't expensive parts and it'll give you peace of mind. You may as well replace the a/c belt whilst you're at it.

Your timing belt is okay until 2028, according to Volvo's schedule. So that's okay for a few more years. I suggest using genuine Volvo parts or at the very least reputable aftermarket. Don't buy cheap ones from brands you've never heard of.

Got the tensioner and aux belt. Plan to do this on Friday plus an oil change and fuel filter change (if I get the time).

Is it worth changing the air con belt at the same time?

The AC belts have a pretty easy time, if you have one it would be daft not to since you will be looking straight at it. It’s a stretch belt so you cut it off and wind the new one on.

Otherwise just inspect it for signs of wear/damage usual cracking ect. Change interval is same as the cam belt for it.
