Default 2008 2.5T Petrol How to Change Gearbox Fluid

Hi all
At 78,500 miles, I want to do a complete Auto gearbox fluid change on my 2008 V70 auto. I've read quite a few posts but please, can anyone advise on the best and most complete method?
Many thanks

I believe it is best to get the oil warm then drop it out of the bottom of the gearbox.Refil with the same amount and do about 1,000 miles then do the same again.That will do you for another 70,000.

As mentioned above, the easiest way is to drain and fill the transmission and repeat the process a few times. Its not possible to drain all the fluid at once, as most of the fluid is trapped inside the transmission. You can only drain about 3 litres at a time. Keep doing it until the fluid is a cherry red colour.

You also need VIDA or some form of diagnostics to reset the fluid counter and to view the temperature of the fluid so you can set the level.

Here's a video that shows what to do;

Before you drop the fluid out make sure the filler port is loose. They can be tight.

Many thanks all.
I have an idea that the gearbox oil spec changed part way through 2008 - is that right, or have I got it wrong?
Thanks again

Wrong, the spec changed later than that.

If you have the 6 speed auto, your car takes JWS3309 trans fluid.

The spec did change with the 2nd gen 6 speed autos from JWS3309 to JWS3324 or AW1. JWS3309 was the spec for the older 5 speeds and was used in the first 6 speeds in the euro 4 P2 cars and P3 up to about 2010. You can not mix the two fluids.
