V50 tailgate won't open
Hi all,
Newbie here, lent my car to a mate for a week, already had changed back handle button unit as it had failed £15 from scrappy ,give me it back and now it's dosnt work again, bought a new unit off the inter web , replaced it , still doesn't work , any ideas ? Also the back passenger footwell is always wet, first thought it was coming through sun roof so I duct taped it up , but it's always wet, it did get a good soaking when a stand pipe blew and water was streaming through , but it's always been damp since I bought it a,nod the dousing was 2 months ago , could it still be that ? TIA |

No idea on the answer but you have posted this in the Generic parts for Sale section.
Ask for it to be moved to the section for the V50 when you are likely to get a better response from the experts there, or repost it there yourself.

Hmmmm.... The boot problem could be the wiring loom - I've read it can break where it goes through the ducting between boot door and frame.
The water issue - no idea. Have you checked all seals etc? My first though was blocked drains at the bottom of the windscreen can cause water ingress in the fan blower but that would normally effect the front passenger footwell. Also if its been damp since you bought it you may want to see about replacing the internal pollen filter. Hope this helps

The wiring loom is the usually the issue but that's usually on the S40 as there is a tighter bend for the loom, not the V50.....
Worth a check anyway.

Mine also stopped working, if you remove the inner tailgate cover (behind the tailgate mechanism) and operate the tailgate lock from the inside (disconnect and pull the wiring inside and reconnect) - you will be able to see if the locking mechanism is working or not, mine wasnt but i could feel it working inside - replaced the mechanism with a used one and issues solved.
As others have said, worth checking the wiring and testing with a voltmeter.
