Keyless Entry - Faraday pouches?
It strikes me that Volvo should be issuing Faraday pouches with every new car these days. The security problem with Keyless entry vehicles are well known and been around for a while. So why are Volvo a. Not doing anything to counter the problem and , b. issuing the Farday pouches for vehicle owners???

Skoda, on the K SUVs at least, allow you to disable keyless each time you lock the car, valid for that locking cycle only. Land Rover have 'done something - details undisclosed' after the publicity of Range Rover thefts. It would be great if Volvo offered the Skoda solution. Lock with button on key, then within 2 or 3 seconds, press the lock pad on the door handle and that's keyless disabled for that cycle.

I asked about having keyless removed from mine was told it wasn’t possible by dealer... (rubbish but what you going to do)
I have a case for key and does it work...but not sure if it solves the issues...my first car had a steering wheel lock...... should have kept it.... Last edited by HDAV; Oct 28th, 2018 at 20:03. |

Manufacturers know what's going to happen when they make crap like this.
Range Rover gets stolen, what's the owner going to do? Buy another one. BMW gets stolen, what's the owner going to do? buy another one. Mercedes gets stolen, what's the owner going to do? buy another one. The above is true for family and others I know who have had their new cars stolen from their drive ways and in one case, armed house burglary for the Range Rover which was a new SDV8. Each of them, were replaced with like for like cars rather than option or even considering anything else

I did not have mine stolen but the buggers got in and rifled through the car looking for loose change i.e. parking money. They got nothing from mine but the area was targeted by the gang with numerous incidents of breaking in but not stealing the car - even top for the range BMW's etc.

I tested the pouches I bought from Amazon. They do work, but only with one key in.
If you put a second key in the same pouch, you can still unlock the car with the pouch right next to the handle. So don't be tempted to double up if you have 2 spare keys... James |

Simple solution - Offer the option to disable keyless entry, and offer a "PIN to drive" function. Trivial software change to implement, and it has been done by one manufacturer.
