Yes, 100%.

Loss of power plus the smoke is classic symptoms of a split hose, either boost hose or intercooler hose. It could be the intercooler itself!

If the intercooler is bloated at all and especially at the bottom then that is your likely culprit but due to your mass power loss I expect that any hole, rip or tear in any of your parts should be fairly apparent.

Ok. I'll try to have a look. Is that all down the back where I can't see?
How about driving it? Am I making things much worse?

Sorry. I'm new-ish to turbos etc.
The intercooler is the little rad thing on the front behind the bumper isn't it?

Yes, if you look through the front bumper grille the first radiator thing you see will be your intercooler and not the radiator. The radiator will be the 2nd one in.

Some pipes will be down the back where you can't see very well. Try and look at where the biggish pipes plug onto the intercooler and follow them back and look for any problems.

Do you hear excess whoosh sound now and get very little power if almost any? Does it feel like the turbo has been taken away??

If it is just a pipe you won't necessarily do damage but you do want to drive on it as little as possible.

Is it this one? I think I can see the bit on the bottom right. Had a look and listen while my mate gave it some revs but couldn't hear/see anything. Still loads of smoke out of the exhaust. I think it just sounds the same as it did apart from all of the turbo noises are missing.

Standing still and revving is not the same, what does is feel like when you accelerate along the road?

Essentially those are some of the bits you need to check over.

The smoke is either white or grey and smells like really bad bbq. It absolutely billows out when I give it any more than the absolute minimum on the accelerator.
Driving just feels like I am using just the first few cm of the accelerator and everything else does nothing. It sounds just very low and rumbly (like an old diesel) without any of the whoops and whistles.

are you definitely getting lighter as opposed to darker smoke? Normally with a split hose you'll get darker smoke as the correct air is not there to mix with the fuel thus over fuelling.

If you take the car to any garage they should be able to diagnose your problem easy without costing an arm and a leg.
