Bucket / Track Seats
Hi guys, question on requirement for getting bucket seats to fit. does anyone know what is required? Seat ... rails? is there anything specific to these cars that are required? or need coding out when removing seats?
When I remove them im guessing I can still keep my current seatbelts, but if I want to replace with a harness? how does all that work? do I need to get some sort of mounting point fixed in for the harness? Sorry for the questions, all completly unknown area for me.

Cant help with specifics, but remember reading about that topic on SS some years ago, few members were discussing various seats that can accomodate 4p harness. Look for posts of that XC50/C30rally owner Michael, iirc.
from my thoughts, I reckon you will get immediate SRS warning when you remove seat as airbags are in the side of those. Replacing seats would probably require that SRS message to be permanently disabled if possible, or just to be ignored permanently (but no idea if that makes other airbags/curtain disabled or not).

I'll keep tabs on this thread as I'm toying with swapping my seats for something more bucket-y.
Adapter frames are a definite from my research. Seat manufacturer might have a specific kit for the car, but apparently more generic frames are around too. What I haven't found yet is anyone that's successfully wired up a seat with an airbag. Seems most people just fool the ecu into thinking there's no airbag at all, but how does the car know it's the 'wrong' airbag? |
