Default Xc 90 towing

Just come back to Volvo with a 2012 xc90 to tow my caravan, Mass in Running Order: 1460 kg or 28.74 cwt. I had no problems with the car towing from Leicestershire to Seahouses Northumberland. Its the gear changes i don't like it seems to scream its tits off between changes whether towing or solo. it's a very nippy car but seems to take too long between changes even a bit if i boot it. If i drive like miss Daisy it seems ok auto or manual select. No faults coming up maybe its normal any ideas please.
Neil.

Welcome back spudd I remember you from a few years ago....

No it's not normal, there should be no flare between changes. I'd get the fluid changed for the correct stuff and the adaptations reset. If no better after a few hundred miles then get the TCM software updated at a dealer or Inidie with licensed VIDA.

Cheers, that was my thinking. I assume a 2012 is still a dodgy aisin warner transmission, heard rumour its now a ZF transmission but doubt it.Will let you know how it goes.

It's the TF80 6 speed that was fitted to all XC90 from MY2006 (including V8). It's more reliable than the older 5 speed but some people do still have issues. The new shape XC90 uses and 8-speed version from AISIN.
