Default Power window repair

Can anyone give me guidance or tips on how to replace the window motor in the NSF door of my 1984 GLT, please?

Could the motor be released from the regulator while both were still in the door cavity, for example?

If the lot has to come out for the work to be done, how do I lower the window to the lowest point to release the lifting arms, as the window is in the top position and without power?

The motor is definitely US, as I've connected it direct to the battery and had no response.

Thanks for any suggestions.
