How to tell if a car has the Advanced Air Cleaner fitted
Sorry for another niche question. Curious to know if there is a physical way of confirming if a car as the Advanced Air Cleaner fitted, beyond seeing it denoted on an advert or spec sheet?
Thanks. |

I think if you can see Clean Zone in the display then you have it. Also if the air quality app is available too.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered if that was the case but some cars listed on used Volvo site don’t have it specifically listed, but “Clean Zone” is displayed in pictures of the Sensus screen.
Incidentally when playing with the configurator, it seems it was only available as part of the “Lounge” pack which included the sunroof. So I’m making a leap of faith that a car with a sunroof will likely have the AAC too. |

There goes that theory then! I’ll hazard a guess that different options were available at different times. Does yours have the Clean Zone denotation?

Clean Zone is separate and has been around for a while. According to the manual it 'checks and indicates whether or not all conditions have been met for good air quality in the passenger compartment.' Clean Zone doesn't actually make the air quality any better, just checks that conditions for good air quality are met.

Ok so back to the drawing board. Any idea if the AAC can be identified?

I have always been under the impression that it actively helps clean the car out, perhaps only for the first 4 years of its life. I've been aching to ask CleanZone questions on the forumn for a while! Edit - if you have a pre MY20 car the folowing may apply if the fan starts running with your key before entering, as it does with mine "Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP) comprises a series of modifications that keep the passenger compartment even clearer from allergy and asthma-inducing substances, among other things an enhanced fan function that means that the fan starts when the car is unlocked with the remote control key. The fan fills the passenger compartment with fresh air. The function starts when required and is disengaged automatically after a time or when one of the passenger compartment doors is opened. The amount of time the fan runs is reduced gradually due to reduced need up until the car is 4 years old. The fully automatic air quality system Interior Air Quality System (IAQS)"

I have a 19 Registered V90 but the chassis number says it is a 20 model year. The 'Clean Zone' message is shown on the central display when altering the temperature.
I'm not aware of any fan starting when I unlock the car but i will check.
