Engine Designation
Not sure if here is the correct place to post but it refers mainly to the 850 series engines after a discussion with a former volvo UK employee refering to engine designation. Hope some may find this of some use when trying to figure out what engine you have.
the engine sticker may appear like this B5254 S or B5234 T First letter in the engine designation :B Second figure is number of Cylinders :5 Third pair of figures is the CC of the engine : 25,23,20 etc Forth figure is the number of valves per cylinder : 2 or 4 Last letter is the type S, T or R There is also some interesting information regarding the T-5 and T-5R if there is another number between 1-4 this is a reference to the turbo charger lower the number the higher powered Charlotte
