Default s40 lock problems

Hi im hoping that someone here may be able to help. I had a driver door locked shut. had to break the lock control unit to unlock door. replaced unit witha second hand one. Now no locks, windows or any electrics at the rear of the car are working. Checked all fuses but can not seem to find a problem. plugged in diagnostic unit to see if there were any error messages but nothing. Someone please help and save me from a hefty dealership bill.
Many thanks

I'm sure I remember on here that the lock units are coded to the car, the drivers lock could be more complex as it has the facility to be unlocked on its own with the remote rather than open all the other doors at the same time, I'm guessing this means there is at least some intelligence going on between all the locks.

This could well mean that dealer only software might be needed to get it all working (assuming the second-hand unit is the correct one and even if it is that they can actually use it in your instance).

I think member iainmd has experience of this, could search his posts.

Yes, sadly that is the case. They must be coded to the car by Volvo and they will only code brand new dealer supplied modules. I had a driver door one go and also a rear door. Each time a bill for around £300-£400 ensued. Sorry.
