£54 for a bulb!
Just nipped out at lunchtime to the local accessory shop for a new headlight bulb. £54.00
I can still feel the pain in my wallet! Is it 5 times brighter than an older type - no. Will it last 5 times longer than an older type - no. Can anyone explain how this is progress? The only consolation the chap in the shop could offer was that he has people coming in for these, choke on the price, go away and then come back later once they have visited the main dealer.

Incandescent or Xenon?
If the former you have been ripped off, if the latter then you have been charged correctly

and if Xenon, then ebay is your friend (can't remember how much I paid for two a couple of years back, but very much less than the dealer quoted for the one at about £100).

Wrong temperature and noname - I wouldn't use these in any car, asking for problems.

Likewise. Probably crap. Watch out for fake branded bulbs, such as Osram, on Ebay, too. At best they will be rubbish and won't last long. At worst they are possible fire hazards.
A xenon bulb isn't like a normal bulb at all, hence the cost.

It's a bling thing. Just like those trainers that are a revolting colour - nobody buys them to look good, it's about being able to afford to wear them. Oh, all those years I drove around with halogen bulbs sobbing into my steering wheel "Why oh why must I use halogen bulbs. If only someone would invent something way more expensive".
You can't blame them for selling them, if people are silly enough to buy them. |
