I’ve had a V90 R Design D4 as a hire car and loved it - you get used to the size and it doesn’t feel especially big when you’re driving it. I thought it cornered very well too. If you prefer the size of the V60 though then that’s the one to go for, the interior looks pretty much the same. Ultimately it’s your decision to make as you’d be the one living with the car

Also the V60 will be a lot bigger than the V50 so maybe that's the car to go for.
Let us know what you decide on!

lol, i will if i ever decide. Atm im still not totally convinced im going with an estate, as i like to sit upright so not ruled out an SUV, and not totally ruled out a non volvo either.

still the 60 and 90 cross country are the things i think i like the most i just cant seem to make up my mind what size i want to go with.

Decisions, decisions.. Just a little bit of info for you.

V90 overall length 4.94 mtr V60 4.76 mtr
wheelbase 2.94 mtr 2.87 mtr
front over hang .87 mtr .84 mtr
rear over hang 1.12mtr 1.04 mtr
height 1.47 mtr 1.43 mtr
overall width 2.01 mtr 2.04 mtr

The cross country variants will be very similar but obviously stand a little higher, failing that consider the XC90. Had one a few years ago, brilliant car.

Good luck with your search.

Skip. 68plate V90 D5 AWD R Design in a lovely Bursting Blue.

Sorry about the mash up with the figures, they looked fine when I typed them out.. You could always Google the dimensions, brings up Volvo specs.

Without actually checking for myself, are you telling us the V60 is narrower than the V90 ?

Yep seems strange to me, but that was looking at Volvo specs for both cars. Maybe the V60 has slightly larger door mirrors. It does seem a bit weird though.

I said that the wrong way round, the V90 is narrower on these figures, but fortunately you understood what I meant.

I went from a Skoda Superb hatch to a V60, so the drop in boot size is noticeable but I do prefer driving it as it feels a more manageable size, particularly for driving around town and parking. My wife had pretty much refused to drive the the Superb due to it's size but is happier with the V60.

I didn't try a V90 as I had decided that was too big (even longer than the Superb).

Just came back from a holiday and had the 3 of us, with a large suitcase and other assorted luggage, a piano stool and a long cardboard box (wedged above the back seats, wouldn't have been able to do that in the hatch). I find the size of the boot in the V60 to be plenty and the level loading lip and almost flat area with the seats down is an improvement.

In short, you need to test drive them both back to back to see what you think. It seems to me that SUVs actually have less boot space than the equivalent model of estate, but the load space is obviously taller, which may suit you if you need to transport taller loads.

It will be the mirrors. Widths discounting mirrors are 1895mm (V90), 1850mm (V60). CC variants are even wider taking into account the wheel arch extensions and bigger mirrors.
