Exclamation First Volvo...Start/Stop function not working? Help!

Hi all, first post but I have just bought my first Volvo, a 2011 V50 Drive (beautiful car) yesterday, everything working as it should, had a foul smell coming into the car but after a quick flick through the threads found it to be the screen wash. But my main issue, the start stop function isn’t working, the button is showing the green light and the dash is acknowledging it’s turned on, I am doing all the correct things (I believe!) into neutral foot off the clutch all that gubbins but still no luck. Any things to try and look at/for that may be stopping the function? Thanks In advance
Liam

There can be a number of reasons for a S/S system not working. Best place to start is a VIDA diagnostic scan which should point to any suspect issues. It could be the secondary S/S battery but I'd be reluctant to spend any money replacing stuff until a diagnostic scan is run. Hope that helps.

Thanks pal appreciate it, will the Vida diagnostic be able to be done on a normal OBD2 reader? Or is it a special Volvo reader?
Thanks again

FWIW my ‘normal’ OBD2 reader only shows engine faults, so I’d imagine something more is required.

Oh, and welcome!

No, Vida is Volvo's diagnostic software. There's a list or map somewhere on this site of members with the kit or you'd need to pay a dealer. Other option is to buy the DICE hardware and Vida software yourself which is available on certain internet auction sites but setup isn't simple if you're not a bit technical.

Vida gives much more diagnostic info than a standard OBD2 reader.

Thanks for all the help guys! Sorted it now, turned out to be the original battery from Volvo so nearly 10yrs old so thought I’d best replace it anyway with the cold weather coming up etc and on the commute to work as if by magic start stop functioning. Turns out the old battery was only running at around 60% on full charge! Next onto the little cosmetic tweaks to get her looking ship shape!
