Also I wish that steering wheel paddles were fitted as standard. This is the least of my wishes but since they are standard on my Honda, and both they and the Sport mode work very nicely on it, a car some £20k cheaper than my Volvo, then I can’t see why Volvo doesn’t provide these or not so conveniently or standard.

I hate the daft fiddly drive mode wheel, you have to take your eyes off the road to see which mode you are selecting.

Agreed. A simple 5-position rotary switch would be so much simpler and easier to use.

I don't find that a problem since, if I use the wheel, I select Individual.

If you want individual or eco mode its straight to the bottom or straight to the top which you can do without looking but still a faff on but if you want dynamic or go back to confort, or offroad you have to look to see if you have selected the right option. A sport button like there used to be on my old V90 auto would be handier or as mentioned already knocking gear lever over to the left.

Choosing a drive mode that's not on top or at the bottom of the list will indeed be difficult to
select without looking at the screen. I only change drive mode while standing still, but I think it must be possible to do it while driving without being dangerous. All my previous cars had lots of buttons, but I have little doubt that I take my eyes less off the road in the XC90.

The only thing I need to do on the move is select "Power" mode. Usually when getting ready for a good overtake opportunity. I can do this without looking, simply by memory of the clicks. "Power" is below the default "Hybrid" on the screen so requires me to click the jog dial down once. I remember the direction by equating it with putting my foot down.

I do not like the mode wheel either, and especially the position it is in, but I do not often change it once I have first changed it, so not the end of the world.
I think all those buttons like brake, power wheel, A brake, should be further forward, I am quite short though so my seat is further forward. Also I have an individual set up on my modes which sits in-between Hybrid and power, though I drive in individual mode most of the time. One thing I love though in my T8 is being in power mode and full manual mode, on a motorway, hold 8th gear, (if you do not hold gears Power mode holds you higher up the box) and even at like 1200 revs the instant acceleration is very impressive, so you get the best fuel consumption (on a depleted battery) and great smooth acceleration with out it jumping a load of gears, as in Brake mode back off and slows down with out touching the brakes. Sorry not a lot to do with 360 camera though |

I mainly use it to slip into sport mode (I dont like dynamic either) when moving and I want to overtake or at busy junction and roundabouts, a sport button as of old would be my choice. I too apologies for getting away from the main topic of 360 camera and to get back to it I too wish there was a more convenient way to activate it when maneuvering forward rather than swiping the screen and finding the icon or stopping to slip in and out of reverse. (I have altered the icon position) |
