360GLE Reluctant to part with
360 GLE (2.0L carb, saloon, not PAS), 1986, 100,000 miles, bodywork VGC ("wax-oiled" at new). One pensioner owner from new (my father). MoT until 22/3/12, disabled tax class. Service history traced to 50K miles, fairly sure routinely serviced after that as he looked after it well. Reconditioned steering rack fitted March 2010. Tyres 4/4/3/3/2 mm. Will need new front exhaust section for MoT otherwise should be OK. Driver’s power window motor works but glass sticks. If it were an estate bodyshell I would keep it (Volvo longevity!), but I really want to buy a campervan and will need to clear the space. First choice is for it to go to a Volvo enthusiast who will cherish it, 2nd to anyone else, 3rd to scrapyard (shameful waste). Anyone interested? Location Cumbria but could be seen by arrangement on a route to Sheffield or North Lincolnshire. Tel. 01946 822032 (answerphone) or e-mail isbjorn@tiscali.co.uk (NB I can be away for long periods).

Indeed, I have been wild camping for over 40 years. But I am retired myself now and feel I deserve an upgrade, even though it means parting with a good, viable vehicle. At least I can sleep comfortably in my current estate when the weather is foul; I can't in the Volvo. My estate will probably fall apart long before the Volvo would and so it's been a difficult choice to decide to let the Volvo go, but a saloon just does not suit my needs.

It seems I am unable to reply to "private mails" (not enough posts) so for original best quality pix or private comms I guess folks will need to use my e-mail address in the original post via their off-forum e-mail app. Some further facts:- B200K engine, Solex 28-34 CISAC carb, perished fuel hoses replaced, new steering coupling fitted when rack was changed, always garaged until last couple of years, no dings but a few small paint touch up spots, can't see any structural rust, cosmetic rust around wheel arch edges, wiper blade carrier for nearside headlamp wiper snapped off, temporary repair to front/middle exhaust joint (front pipe severed, quoted £50 part + minimum of £50 labour) and to tail pipe finisher. I don't have the tools/facilities for DIY otherwise I would have changed the exhaust and brake discs and fixed the driver's power window. Car will come with:- 1 x pair unused, boxed, front discs (pads look thick), 1 x unused cam belt, 2 x unused fan belts, owners manual in original wallet, Haynes manual, dossier of paperwork, pair door mirrors (looks as though must have been replaced due to minor damage to plastic body). What do I want for it? Bearing in mind that the car is in working order (in regular use for my Dad) and that the exhaust may yet pass the MoT ("no major leaks") and looking back at other 360's on the forum, I think £450 ONO is a reasonable asking price for a starter, desirers are welcome to haggle.

Thank you for the compliment and for your opinion of the asking price fairness. I hope a keen DIY/enthusiast out there can see the car's potential. It's in far better condition than the advertised one with a big hole in the door, yet it is not a glamorous turbo or injection with alloys etcetera - I am no expert but I think that with some TLC someone could make a good show model of it - I'd rather that than someone trash it doing this "drifting" thing I have read about and it would be a shame to crush it. The owner, my Dad, has now gone into residential care and he asks about what I have done with it, so I don't want to have to lie to him that it's gone to a good home when in fact it hasn't.

Hi,
I really like the car, just wandering if you would be interested in a deal for a '97 940 2.3 HPT manual estate? For pics search for "Nearly a 940 Sports Edition" Cheers, Steve

Hello Steve, Thanks for your interest and for your exchange offer. Sorry, but as I already have an estate which I can sleep in, such an exchange would not achieve my objective of reducing the car count on my drive (3 and want to get down to 1) to make space for a campervan.
