D type overdrive output flange and short prop
I have an earlier m41 with the type 1 u shaped output flange, I am looking for a later type circular flange and also a short front prop.
Thanks |

Many thanks for the effort, it is for my 1969 133, I have taken the 4 speed and replaced it with an overdrive unit from an early 1800 which uses a UJ type flange.I need to source a short prop or chop mine down.

Fwiw I think it's easier to have yours chopped, that's what I did, it's easy to measure, not expensive to get done, and you can put all new U/J's etc in at the same time.

gearbox output flange.
Hi JP,
I have found a flange in my box of used M41parts. It is the type which has 4 bolt holes at unequal centres. I would have thought your 1969 133 would be fitted with the same type, or has yours got the bigger bolt on type with a built in flywheel.? I will take mine to the Post Office tomorrow and find the cost to post to Belfast. Regards, Chris. |

Hi Volvo 133, many thanks for getting back to me, the overdrive unit I have is from an early P1800 and has the type 1 fitting which uses the u shaped bolts to attach the universal joints to the rear of the overdrive, I am looking for the later small circular type that attached to the corresponding flange on the prop shaft. My current output shaft has 8 splines so only an 8 spline type will do, is this the type you have and would it be possible for a picture of the output flange?. on a final note the flange if suitable can be shipped to Belfast as it will be then sent down to my PO box in Dublin as this works out more convenient for me
Thanks again JP Last edited by JP 1800; Feb 24th, 2019 at 22:27. |

gearbox output flange.
Hi Jp,
Mine is the small round type, I have had a few m40 and m41 boxes over the years and this flange is the most common. It looks the same as the flange on the rear axle input on my 1970 Amazon 133, with the unequal centres for the 4 bolt holes.I have checked it and found it to have 10 splines. I have a quote for post to Dublin. Let me know if it is of any use. Regards, Chris. |

Hi Chris,
Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately the 10 spline flange will not fit onto my OD unit, I will have to use the existing flange and use the u shaped bolts. Many thanks JP |
