Intermittent limp mode
Hi
I am a new member, and am looking for advice an my 2004 V50 2L diesel. It intermittently goes in to limp mode, we pull over, turn the car off, re start it and the problem is gone. Sometimes this happens two or three times in fairly quick succession (~5 minutes apart), sometimes it doesn't happen for days. The error message on the screen is "Engine System Service Required". I brought a Streetwize ODBII code reader and get the following five codes: P0406 EGR Flow Sensor A Circuit High Input P2263 List of codes provided with the reader doesn't include this code?? P0234 Engine Overboost Condition P0406 EGR Flow Sensor A Circuit High Input P2263 List of codes provided with the reader doesn't include this code?? I would really appreciate any advice members can provide. Regards Matt |

Update
Hi
So an update on issues with my V50. I took the car to my local mechanic, and he found a couple of issues: 1. The multiplug for the EGR valve was not connected, so he connected that, but it has actually made the issue with limp mode worse, not better - I have disconnected the multiplug again. 2. He found that the supply voltage for the EGR valve is not being output from the ECM. He suspects that the ECM has been "mapped" by a previous owner to try and remove this issue. Is this possible? A quick internet search shows many companies that will "rebuild" the ECM for me, does anybody have experience with this and is it worth pursuing? I now have over 100 views of my initial message, but no replies, is there something I should have done differently with the initial question? Matt |

Is the EGR blanked but not blanked on the ecu?
Dopes it go into limp mode on the dash or just ' symptoms'? Are you using any fuel additives or Vpower/ultimate?

V50 2L D in intermittently in Limp Mode
Hi NorthantsPete, thanks for you response.
I don't think the EGR is physically blanked, but I have not yet removed it to confirm. As there is no power coming from the ECU, it is possible that it has been blanked there. It goes in to limp mode on the dash, and the revs are limited, the two happen at the same time. I am not using any additives or Vpower/ultimate - could using them help? Matt |

I should also add that I brought the car as a cheap daily driver in November, so I am still working out what makes it tick, and what the previous owners have done to it.
