I have just read that if a Volvo with a particulate filter gives out smoke, it will fail its MOT after 30th May 2018.
I don't know anything about the filters, but my MOT is due this month, but I am away.
When I switch the engine on each morning it does smoke.
How will I know if it has the filter and how do I get round the problem.I bought the car new and its mileage is only about 22,000 miles.
I can't afford to have the car banned from the road.

I don't think your car will have a particulate filter fitted - I think it should have a black/grey engine cover which means Euro 3 emissions standards, no DPF fitted. If it has a silver top, it's a Euro 4 engine which does have a DPF fitted.
