MAF error (P00BC) seems to be inlet tube?
Hi.
So whilst on the motorway today I get the tortoise and "reduced engine performance" warning. The single error code reads as P00BC, which I lookup to mean a problem with the MAF. However, upon opening the engine cover I notice the inlet tube for the airbox is malformed. See video https://share.icloud.com/photos/0bBl...ud_&_Kingswood I removed it, cleaned it up and little and tried to refit it. This made no difference as it seems essentially too short, perhaps shrunk, now not fitting properly at either end and deforming at the top. Here is a picture I took 6 months ago of my engine bay showing it seated perfectly. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0dc8...AVGc_cf8g#Home Here are pictures of the front and back of the tube. But having googled the part numbers I can't find a UK stockist of this part that can get posted to me quickly. There are two on eBay but being posted from Latvia. I could of course buy direct from Volvo. Does anyone know a reliable UK parts stockist? https://share.icloud.com/photos/0Dx6...ud_&_Kingswood https://share.icloud.com/photos/0ukB...ud_&_Kingswood In the meantime, to get me home tomorrow (100 miles away), I was thinking of gaffa taping the ends to their enclosures to ensure a good airflow. Is that a horrible idea? Thanks in advance |

Ok, so I put gaffa tape on the pipe and drove home, which was fine.
The next day I bought a new pipe from the Volvo main dealer and fitted myself. It did fit better, but not great. Here are some pics old and new: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0ASY...iQ9rnY3BLQyktg (this photo is rotated, so the right side should be the top, which shows the distorted top of the pipe on the old one, and straight edge on the new) new pipe fitted: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0Spp...xD7HFcltlW6E-Q (again, photo is rotated) - not as tight as the original was in my 6-month picture (link in previous post), but good enough I thought. I cleared the fault codes, but after 20 miles they returned, so I booked into my local Volvo garage, MKG Volvo Twickenham. The diagnosed the fault as "EMP Sensor" and gummed up pipework. Although when googling this after I think this might be the boost pressure sensor (?) Anyway, the sensor was in stock, but the new pipe would need to be sent from Sweden and wouldn't arrive until the following week. Yikes! My car is booked into Gatwick airport car park for a family holiday this coming weekend. I needed the car back! MKG were excellent, they replaced the sensor and cleaned/blasted the gunk out of the pipes meaning it is all fixed (and overall cheaper than the original quote!) A win all round. I can't praise MKG enough. I've been there twice before (ERG fix and regular service) and each time they have been professional, honest, helpful, friendly and value for money. I'd highly recommend. |

Just to add, the paperwork with the repair mentioned replacement of the "Boost Pressure Sensor".
