Central locking problem
I have a obscure central locking problem. It occurs intermittently and I cannot detect any pattern.
Mostly the remote central locking works as it should. All doors lock and mirrors wind in, indicators flash as they should. The anti theft arms correctly. But, occasionally, only the nearside doors and the boot locks. The anti theft arms correctly. However the offside doors do not lock and the mirrors do not move. If I leave the car to stand, do nothing to it, the functionality mysteriously returns. Anyone got any idea of where I start??? Thanks in advance. Ian Wilson

First port of call with something intermittent like this would have to be Vida/Dice and see what if any codes are stored.
Other than this, one possibility I'd look towards is maybe the DDM (prise the driver's window switchpack up and that's it) since when we bought our car the module was unplugged and this caused the mirrors and OS locks not to function. Or the wiring between driver's door and body, this can fatigue with age although not heard of it happening to a door on Volvo so far, only tailgates. So if you can't get the codes read then I'd suggest checking/wiggling the connector for the DDM firstly. EDIT- one more thing, what's the battery voltage when you check it after the car has stood overnight? A failing battery can cause some mayhem with CAN networked cars. Not as likely as a bad connection IMO but worth a check to rule it out.

You may get more response if you get this thread moved to the correct section. This one covers up to 2007.

Oh, it's a P3 then? well same things still apply regarding the battery voltage and code reading. Not sure if the DDM works the same way though.
