Well I had an update today.
The car has been stripped, and the current clutch is almost worn, so I made the right choice.

Fingers crossed I get the car back in a day or 2!

I spoke to my mechanic today, and the final bill is : £380!!!

For that he is doing:

New 3 piece clutch kit, gear box oil, crank seal, drop links, inner/outer rack ends, 2 tyres (fronts) oil + filter change, and tracking.

I sourced/paid for the clutch, drop links, and rack ends, my mechanic sourced the rest (quality branded) at trade price.

Needles to say I am very happy with the price, and his quality of work is second to none.

If anybody in my area needs a mechanic, PM me, and I'll send you his way.

I can't wait to get the old girl back on Saturday now!

No I sourced my own parts.

I'm (Im)patiently waiting for the return of my car... he just text me and said he will have it back within the hour!

I can't wait to drive the old girl and see how goes now!

My car is home!!

I have just been for a good drive, and wow, what a difference!
The car pulls amazingly well, the squeal from the bearing is a distant memory, and it holds the road like super glue!!

BUT

There is STILL a rattle from the front drivers wheel!
Granted it is much better, but it is still there.

So, any ideas what else it could be guys?

@ Wrinkles http://news.bbc.co.uk/dna/place-lanc.../plain/A701623

@ Martin the ARB bushes have recently been replaced, and the top mount is fine also.
I noticed today whilst going down a steep rough track that whilst braking there is no rattle, and when no braking is applied the rattle is there.

Well it's been a while, so time for a little update!

I have finally source some door cards!!
Well 50 % any way!
Front/rear passenger side.. they are in the post as I type this.. so I just need to find the other side now!

Today I decided to find out why the front fogs wouldn't work.. I checked the fuses, switches, wiring, everything.. and drew a blank... however..
Stupidly I didn't believe both bulbs would blow at the same time, so I didn't check... any way I finally decided to check the bulbs... and guess what?

There were NO BULBS at all!!!!
What a plonker I am!

So I popped to the local petrol station, purchased 2 bulbs, popped them in, voila! I can see the light!!!

Why were the bulbs missing??!!!!! God knows!!!

I then decided to get rid of the electric aerial (it's a universaly one not OEM as I couldn't find one for sale) as the radio was all crackly.

So I popped on whip tail type aerial, and now the radio is fantastic!

The car is running superb now, it feels and handles like new, it really does, however, I still have a slight rattle from the front o/s when going over pot holes.
It isn't there whilst braking though.

Try as I might, I can't find the damn rattle!

Loving this car though... fast, powerful, full of toys, and comfy as hell!
And pennies to buy!
