New alternator recommendations

Hi

So my alternator makes smoke & drains the battery - i can just about read the part number on the charred label 30667051.

Volvo want £370 plus mine for a new one - part number 8602920.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to get a new or recon alternator.

i paid a bit less than that for mine in july this year from a main dealer
for the 170a one

couldnt find it cheaper At the time

Eurocarparts Might have one depending on the amp rating you need, unsure on price

I was a Lot happier fitting a Volvo one than the "foMoCo" one that came out.

Thanks for the response. Europarts want £384 for the Lucas one (which is what volvo are offerring).

I managed to find a recon one with 18 months warranty from west lancs autoelectrics for £145. It'll be arriving on Monday. I'll post how i get on with it.
