Default New used XC70

A week on with the used XC70 addition to the driveway and I have a couple of issues niggling me as we already have an older V70 D5 to compare against. The XC passed its last MOT and has a FSH. The following are not on the twice-as-old twice-the-miles V70 so I am a little nervous at the moment.

1. When I start the XC70 there is a shortish emission of grey smoke but once on the move nothing - possible cause? Cause for concern?

2. Once moving in 1st gear there is what I can only assume to be general AWD noise rumble which is non existent moving up through the gears and cruising along in 6th - cause for concern? My Mk1 Disco was a little similar in this respect.

3. At some point the previous owner did the classic jam-the-seat-belt-in-the-door which means it has a 1-2mm gap - is there a method for adjust the tightness of the door 'fit' by loosening and tightening the screw fixings?

The XC is (nervously) booked in for a free main dealer health check in a couple of weeks but I would be most grateful for any other owner insights before hand.

Many thanks
