Default Bumper damage

Hello Folks,
This is my first post about six months ago I bought a second hand v40 with over 100,000 miles.

It had been lovingly looked after and had full service history and I was fully intending to keep it that way.

To date it has been trouble free and fantastic motoring so thankyou Volvo.

Sadly after +100,00 miles somebody decided to bump and scrape all the side of the bumper removing the paint from the rear bumper exposing the black base...

Said "artist" didn't stay around to admire his or her handiwork just disappeeared leaving me to find their modification.

C'est la vie and all part of the Modern World I suppose but what do I do now.

I'd like to do the decent thing but don't want to buy a new bumper.

Has anyone had any experience of having a bumper repainted???

Can it be done???

I see various adverts about folks who wil come and magically fix your bumper leaving it as good as new in a day using "smart systems"..

Any advice / guidance before I go like a lamb to the slaughter to my local Volvo dealer or bodyshop

Any help appreciated and happy motoring to all

Pablo

Default RE: Bumper damage

Sounds like a fair bit of damage. I have found that these people that do the smart repairs are fairly limited in what they can repair. Another option could be to use one of the internet parts locator companies to try and find a bumper the same colour and from roughly the same age of car then it will be quite straight forward to replace. I thought there was one on ebay recently.
Hope it helps
Chris
